The metamorphosis of Gabon: General Brice Oligui Nguema, standard bearer of renewal

In the heart of Gabon, the wind of change is blowing with force, carried by the emblematic figure of the president of the transition, General Brice Oligui Nguema. In just ten months since coming to power following a coup d’état, the general has tirelessly continued his mission to seduce and modernize the country. His recent Republican tour in the Middle Ogooué province is the most recent proof of this.

The popularity of General Oligui Nguema is experiencing ups and downs: if in Libreville, she seems to be losing momentum, in the provinces, she is acclaimed as a savior. Wearing his military fatigues, the president of the transition puts himself on stage with enthusiasm. He goes to meet the inhabitants, shakes hands, dances with the local populations, like a candidate on an electoral campaign.

On the ground, Brice Oligui Nguema is working to lay the foundations of a more modern society, by improving infrastructure and the living conditions of citizens. Expectations are high, and complaints are rife: dilapidated roads, dilapidated hospitals, schools lacking teachers, difficulties accessing water and electricity… The task is immense, but the general seems determined to take on the challenge.

In his speeches, the president of the transition explains the reasons which led to the coup d’état and makes promises for the future. In accordance with the transition charter, he is the only leader authorized to run in the presidential election scheduled for August 2025.

The image of Brice Oligui Nguema in military fatigues resonates as a symbol of renewal and mobilization for Gabon. His approach, both political and social, is part of a desire to build a better future for all Gabonese people. It remains to be seen whether these concrete actions on the ground will succeed in transforming the population’s perception and putting Gabon on the path to progress and political stability.
