Fatshimetrie: The challenges of the state exam in Kasaï-Oriental in 2024

Fatshimetrie is the name of a new student event which has shaken up school tradition in the province of Kasaï-Oriental in 2024. This year, a significant drop of 27% in the participation rate in the ordinary session of the state exam was recorded compared to the previous year. In fact, only 18,687 candidates took part in the tests, compared to 23,592 the previous year, a loss of 4,905 candidates. This drop is partly explained by the non-payment of registration fees in full, thus leading to the disqualification of many candidates.

Ananias Muzadi Kankonde, Principal Provincial Inspector (IPP) in Kasai-Oriental, stressed that this loss was the result of strict application of official requirements for payment of fees. Only candidates in good standing were accepted to stabilize the data and guarantee the reliability of the selection process. This situation also had an impact on the number of exam centers, which fell from 62 in 2023 to 52 in 2024.

During the launching ceremony of the tests, Ananias Muzadi Kankonde urged the finalist students to demonstrate integrity and focus. He encouraged them to concentrate on their revisions and avoid any form of cheating. He stressed the importance of exams as a reflection of the knowledge and skills acquired throughout their school career, and called on students to give the best of themselves to honor the province of Kasaï-Oriental.

Tests for the regular session of the state exam continue until Thursday, June 27, 2024, providing candidates with an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and knowledge. This is a crucial time for students who aspire to graduate and open doors to the future.

In conclusion, despite the challenges and obstacles encountered, Kasaï-Oriental students are encouraged to remain focused, work diligently and demonstrate determination to pass their exams. These tests represent an important stage in their academic and professional life, and they are invited to approach them with seriousness and commitment. Their success will be a testament not only to their individual skills, but also to the strength and resilience of education in the Kasai-Oriental province.
