Fatshimetrie, June 22, 2024 – In a school located in the commune of Ngaliema in Kinshasa, a special awareness day took place to mark the end of the 2023-2024 school year. Students were encouraged to reflect on the importance of education and set ambitious goals for their future.
Elda Makambo, a teacher at Helena la Providence School, stressed the importance of parents’ encouragement for children’s education. She insisted that every child has the right to study, develop and contribute positively to society. She also encouraged the students to dream big, as dreams are the driving force behind all success.
For his part, Elvis Mukuna, president of the NGO Espoir de la Jeunesse, recalled that it is unacceptable to deprive a child of his right to education. He urged young people to fight for their rights and help each other to ensure a better future for all. According to him, education is the key to a prosperous future, and he praised the efforts of President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi to make education a national priority in the DRC.
Mukuna stressed that all children, whether in mines, IDP camps or elsewhere, must have access to education. He emphasized that only knowledge can lead an individual towards success and the well-being of society. He concluded by calling for a massive return of children to school to ensure a bright future for the country.
This awareness day was an opportunity to promote education and recall the importance of children’s rights. Every child deserves to receive a quality education to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society. It is essential that society as a whole mobilizes to guarantee every child the fundamental right to education, because it is through this that a better future is built for all.
