A historic state exam at the Bakanja Institute: An era of resilience and success for the youth of North Kivu

The highlight of the start of the academic year in the province of North Kivu is undoubtedly the launch of the 58th edition of the State Examination at the Bakanja Institute. Under the leadership of Major General Peter Cirimwami, Interim Military Governor of the region, this national exam brought together no less than 62,595 finalist secondary school and short cycle vocational training students.

The tense security situation in the region gave rise to a special effort on the part of the central Government which covered the entire participation costs of candidates for this State Examination. A laudable decision which allowed students from areas affected by the unrest caused by the M23 rebel group to be able to take their exams in optimal and fair conditions.
