**The situation in Beni: The urgency of concerted action to counter the violence**
The Beni region, in the territory of North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is once again the scene of a tragedy. The attack in Kyanganda village claimed the lives of at least 14 innocent civilians. These repeated acts of violence are a source of deep sadness and anger for the local population, who feel abandoned in the face of the increase in attacks.
Civil society in Beni vigorously denounces the lack of adequate reaction from the authorities and the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) to these barbaric acts. Warnings from residents about the imminent presence of ADF rebels are often ignored or treated with neglect, leaving the population exposed to serious danger.
The bereaved and displaced families following this new attack deserve a firm and immediate response from the competent authorities. It is imperative that security forces act effectively to guarantee the protection of civilians and put an end to the abuses of armed groups which are igniting the region.
The call for unity launched by the administrator of the Lubero territory is of capital importance. The population must mobilize, form a united front and collaborate with the authorities to counter these negative forces which are sowing terror. Trust in local institutions and the military is essential to building a united front against the common enemy.
It is time for concrete measures to be taken to ensure the security and protection of civilians in Beni. The peace and stability of the region depend on the commitment of all actors involved, cooperation between the population and the authorities, and the determination to eradicate the scourge of violence which hinders the development and well-being of residents.
Together, through solidarity, determination and mutual trust, it is possible to defeat these dark forces and build a more secure and peaceful future for the population of Beni. It is the duty of all of us to unite and act collectively to put an end to the spiral of violence and fear plaguing the region.
