**In Africa, the fight against measles continues: WHO provides assistance to DPS Maniema Kindu**

In the heart of Africa, in the province of Maniema in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a fierce fight is being waged against measles. A highly contagious viral disease which is rampant in the region, causing numerous victims, particularly among the most vulnerable populations.

It is in this context that the World Health Organization (WHO) recently provided the Maniema Provincial Health Division (DPS) with 63 measles treatment kits. These kits, composed of essential medicines, are intended to relieve the suffering of patients and limit deaths linked to this disease.

According to local health authorities, the situation is particularly worrying in certain health zones in the region. The Kunda health zone, for example, recorded around fifty deaths in the space of a week, demonstrating the urgency of the situation.

In this context, the intervention of the WHO is more than welcome. By providing these treatment kits, the international organization is providing concrete assistance to populations affected by measles, who are struggling to access appropriate care. These drugs will make it possible to treat more than a hundred patients per kit, thus offering hope of recovery to many patients.

DPS Maniema officials welcome this WHO initiative, emphasizing the importance of this aid for the care of measles patients. Thanks to these drugs, the case fatality rate, which exceeds 10% in certain areas, should decrease significantly.

Doctor Georges Shabani Kyamuteba, interim head of division of DPS Maniema, emphasizes the urgency of the situation: “By providing our health teams with these treatment kits, WHO is actively contributing to the fight against measles and the saving human lives. We hope that this support will reduce the number of deaths and alleviate the suffering of the sick.

DPS Maniema also says it is ready to receive other donations and support from its partners, in order to further strengthen the fight against measles and achieve the objective of eradicating this disease in the region.

In conclusion, the WHO initiative to support the DPS Maniema in the fight against measles deserves to be welcomed. It is thanks to solidarity and collaboration between health stakeholders that we will be able to defeat this disease and offer a healthier future to the populations of the Maniema region.
