Rising temperatures in Egypt: vigilance in the face of the imminent heatwave

The climate in Egypt, under the influence of the seasonal Indian depression, is currently experiencing a rise in temperatures which is expected to continue in the days to come. Manar Ghanem, member of the Information Center of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, stressed that this increase, observed particularly in the northern governorates, oscillates between one and two degrees compared to the usual averages.

This rise in temperatures is notably due to the influence of the Indian depression which extends over a vast area encompassing the Arabian Peninsula, part of Asia, Europe and Africa. The warm air masses lose some of their heat as they pass over the Mediterranean Sea, but retain a large amount of humidity and water vapor, thus increasing the feeling of heat.

Temperatures are forecast to continue to rise over the next week, reaching their peak mid-week. In Greater Cairo, they could reach between 39 and 40 degrees Celsius, with very hot weather prevailing in most governorates, due to the lingering influence of the seasonal Indian depression.

This period of intense heat highlights the importance of taking appropriate measures to protect yourself from high temperatures and limit the risks associated with heat waves. It is recommended to stay hydrated, limit outdoor physical activities during the hottest hours of the day, and take particular care of those most vulnerable to heat.

In conclusion, the rise in temperatures in Egypt, caused by the influence of the Indian depression, highlights the importance of remaining vigilant and taking care of one’s health during heatwaves. Proper preparation and adaptation to extreme weather conditions can help you get through this period of intense heat safely.
