Fatshimetrie had the privilege of attending a three-day bridge and road construction training in Lagos, Nigeria. The training, organized at the Civil Service Personnel Development Centre, Magodo, Lagos State, had the theme “Building Bridges: From Theory to Practice”. The objective was to strengthen the skills and expertise of engineers in bridge and road construction.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the training covered various aspects of bridge construction such as design, construction and maintenance. Several civil engineering experts were present to lead the training. Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, noted that the participants were from the Lagos State Ministry of Works, Bureau of Infrastructure and Public Works Corporation.
Daramola stressed that this training was more than just an event, but was at the heart of the state’s continued commitment to infrastructural development. The speakers were experts and thought leaders in the field who shared their cutting-edge knowledge, experiences and techniques to enhance the technical skills of the participants.
He urged participants to pay attention, ask questions, share their views and learn from the experience of the trainers. The emphasis on practical application is particularly important because it allows engineers to gain valuable experience.
According to Daramola, punctuality and active participation will be the key to success, and he encouraged participants to take advantage of the training to develop themselves. Permanent Secretary of the Bureau of Infrastructure, Lateef Somide, asked the participants to take the training seriously and thanked the facilitators as well as the monitoring, evaluation and training department for their dedication.
GELD Construction Managing Director Nabeel Esaw urged participants to be open to knowledge. He stressed the importance of this training in enhancing the skills and expertise of engineers in Lagos State in the field of construction.
