Celine Dion’s moving fight against Stiff Person Syndrome

At the premiere of the documentary “I am: Celine Dion” in New York, the famous international artist emotionally shared her fight against Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). Celine Dion has opened up about the need to share her story, highlighting the rarity of her condition and the long quest to find the right medical team and go through multiple tests.

Through her words, Dion emphasized the vital importance of bearing witness to her struggle, emphasizing the difficulties she had to face alone before receiving her diagnosis. “For me, it was absolutely necessary at this time,” she expressed, aware of the fact that many people silently suffer from immune disorders. “A lot of people live with autoimmune diseases. Being alone, not knowing what’s going on…I’ve gotten so many letters from people saying ‘I have PSS too’ or ‘Do you think I could suffer?’. This documentary aims to raise awareness and encourage people to share their pain and concerns.”

Addressing her return to the stage, Dion described the many physical, mental, emotional and vocal treatments required. “It’s not just warming up your body and your vocal cords and then going on stage,” she explained. “It’s a gradual process, and I can already feel a slight improvement.”

Despite the challenges, Celine Dion stressed her gratitude to her fans, her family and her supporters who accompanied her. “I am not here, in New York this evening, after so many years of career, all alone,” she stressed. “I owe it to them to share my journey and raise awareness.”

At the premiere, Dion’s foundation announced a $2 million donation for autoimmune neurology research, demonstrating its commitment to advancing medical knowledge in this area.

“I am: Celine Dion” will be available to stream on Prime Video starting June 25. This introspective dive from the music icon will not fail to touch spectators in search of authenticity and inspiration. A moving story of hope, resilience and sharing that will resonate far beyond the screens, reminding everyone of the importance of solidarity and empathy in times of tumult.
