Nigeria in full swing: The Lekki Deep Water Port, a major project for the future

At the heart of Nigeria’s economic and infrastructural excitement is a major project: the Lekki Deep Water Port, located on the border of Lagos State and Ogun State. Last Saturday, the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, officially kicked off construction, marking the start of a new era for the region.

Accompanied by other senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Works, Umahi inspected the progress of works on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, as well as other road projects in the Lekki Free Zone, Dangote Credit Road and from Eleko, among others. He pledged to pay particular attention to each section of the project, demonstrating the desire to successfully complete this major undertaking.

To date, about N10 billion has been paid in compensation to owners of structures affected by the alignment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. Furthermore, the Minister announced the launch of viaduct construction works from the first week of July and confirmed that the Federal Executive Council has given the green light for the construction of the road from Sokoto to Badagry.

Umahi, while inspecting the Third Mainland Bridge, proudly declared that 80% of the road projects initiated since the start of President Bola Tinubu’s administration have been successfully completed. This announcement highlights the government’s continued commitment to infrastructure development and improvement of road networks for the benefit of all citizens.

In a country where infrastructure plays a crucial role in economic growth, the launch of the Lekki Deep Water Port project is of paramount importance. Not only will it help to strengthen trade and maritime exchanges, but it will also open up new development prospects for the region. With determined leadership and large-scale projects like this, Nigeria continues to move towards a bright and prosperous future.
