**Women at the heart of peace in Ituri Congo: a saving commitment**
In the heart of Ituri, a province ravaged by conflicts and ravaged by armed groups, a wind of hope is blowing. The women of this region, strong and determined, have decided to take charge of their destiny and actively engage in the process of disarmament, conflict resolution and peacebuilding.
During a workshop organized in Bunia, a real crossroads of violence and suffering, these women raised the flag of peace high. Supported by the Provincial Gender Division, UN-Women, the Norwegian Embassy and MONUSCO, they decided to make their voices heard and actively contribute to building a more serene future for their community.
Among the decisions taken during this meeting, the integration of the gender dimension in all actions in favor of security and peace occupies a central place. The women of Ituri are aware of the importance of their role in resolving conflicts and building lasting peace. They call for effective consideration of their contribution and concerns in pacification policies and initiatives.
Furthermore, these pioneering women wish to establish close links with local actors and provincial institutions to advance their action plan in favor of United Nations Resolution 1325. They aspire to be full actors of their destiny and to promote a culture of peace and dialogue within their community.
The participants in this workshop also underlined the importance of raising awareness in rural areas, where traditions and customs often have a dominant influence. They are convinced that education and awareness are essential tools for building a peaceful and inclusive future for all.
Finally, MONUSCO representatives in Ituri and the governor’s advisors welcomed the women’s initiative to engage in peacebuilding. They encouraged these women to share their knowledge and experiences with the entire community, in order to raise awareness of the importance of Resolution 1325 and actions in favor of peace.
In short, the women of Ituri have shown that they are ready to take on the challenges and build a better future for their region. Their commitment and determination are sources of inspiration for all those who believe in a world where peace and justice prevail.
