The investigation into Mohbad’s tragic disappearance continues to raise questions and new revelations shed harsh light on this disturbing affair. Recall that a US-based laboratory recently disputed the Lagos State government’s claim that a toxicology test was conducted at their facility. This revelation comes after research to determine the cause of the musician’s death.
In February 2024, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a live phone call with Ahmad Isah, facilitator of the Abuja-based online program Brekete Family, that the test of toxicology was underway at NMS Labs in Pennsylvania.
However, on May 15, a pathologist testified in the Coroner’s Court that an autopsy could not determine Mohbad’s cause of death due to the decomposition of his body.
On May 17, in response to an inquiry, Esther Dede, client services associate in the Forensic Medicine Division at NMS Labs, said, “Unfortunately, we do not have a file for this patient.”
Faced with this situation, Aloba suggested that this revelation could indicate a possible cover-up of the matter.
He said: “I was shocked to learn of the denial. I did not expect such fabrication. It now appears that the claim that the test was carried out in the US was fabricated from the start , indicating an attempt to conceal the truth.
“Hearing this news made me even sadder about my son’s death. I don’t believe the state government could have fooled everyone by saying they went for the test and they hadn’t. I was so distressed. This also gives me confidence that we will get justice in the end.
“Before he disappeared, Mohbad said that if they killed him, they couldn’t kill his entire family who would get justice for him. And that’s what we are doing now.”
