Fatshimetrie takes you to the heart of the rallies that shook several cities in Israel this Saturday, where voices were raised to demand the departure of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and demand early elections.
In a show of solidarity, protesters also called for the release of all hostages held in Gaza and for the Israeli government to accept US President Joe Biden’s latest proposal.
Families of hostages held in Gaza have taken part in these ongoing anti-government protests, proudly displaying the Israeli flag and holding signs with images of the hostages, calling on authorities to repatriate them immediately.
In Tel Aviv, Democracy Square is overflowing with citizens urging Netanyahu to accept the hostage release deal.
“There is nothing more important! Every hostage must go home!” protesters chanted.
On Hostages Square in Tel Aviv, protesters turned on their cell phone lanterns and called out the names of the 125 hostages still held by Hamas.
“Publish this agreement, so it can move forward… Get to work, act,” a woman in Tel Aviv said over a loudspeaker.
In Caesarea, protesters said Netanyahu lacked the public’s trust, calling for his departure from power and acceptance of Biden’s proposed hostage release deal.
“There is no victory until the last hostage returns,” the demonstrators repeated.
“We demand Netanyahu’s immediate removal from power. There is a clear conflict of interest. You don’t need to be attorney general to understand that,” others shouted.
