The Forum for the Cohesion of the Central Region, also known as the Center Forum, met recently in Kinshasa to address crucial topics of development and governance in the Grand Kasaï area. This meeting brought together the new national and provincial authorities, as well as government and parliamentary representatives, with the aim of presenting the strategic reflections of the Forum and discussing concrete actions already undertaken, while considering common action mechanisms.
The different units of the Forum Center presented their progress and reflections during this meeting. The Communication Unit highlighted its work on the image of the Head of State, the Elections and Governance Unit addressed the issues of the electoral process, while the Development Unit presented its thoughts on the development of the region.
During his speech, Steve Mpiana, coordinator of the Grassroots Development Program for 145 territories at the Central Coordination Office (BCECO), highlighted the efforts already deployed in Greater Kasai. He notably mentioned the renovation and construction of schools, health centers and other essential infrastructure in the provinces of Kasaï Central, Kasaï Oriental and Lomami, covered by BCECO.
The discussions that followed allowed participants to ask relevant questions on strategic thinking around the development of the Central region. The coordinator of the Forum, Dr Bruno Miteyo, highlighted the importance of governance and development as major challenges, requiring collaboration and concerted action.
He also underlined the importance of the second term of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi as a crucial opportunity for the development of Greater Kasai. The head of the Civil House of the Head of State encouraged local officials to seize this opportunity to implement development projects beneficial to the populations of the region.
The Forum for the Cohesion of the Central Region positions itself as a force for proposals for the development of the Grand Kasaï area. Born from the meeting of nationals from five provinces of the Central region, this Forum has set up strategic think tanks dedicated to elections and governance, development and communication.
Ultimately, this meeting not only made it possible to present concrete progress and strategic reflections, but it also underlined the importance of constructive collaboration between the different stakeholders to ensure harmonious and integrated development of the Central region.
