Serving his sentence on court: an unprecedented sentence for a teenage burglar

Fatshimetrie, a renowned publication, revealed that a teenager was sentenced to serve his sentence on the premises of the court for a burglary and theft. The judge, Mrs. O.O Odumosu, pronounced the sentence after the culprit pleaded guilty.

Justice Odumosu’s sentence ordered the culprit to serve his sentence on the court premises from 8am to 2pm daily. The hearing revealed that the teenager committed his offense on May 19 at 8am, at No 1 Road F-2, Oorun village Idi-Ori, Abeokuta.

The civil party’s lawyer, ASP Olakunle Shonibare, informed the court that the teenager broke into the house of Mrs Falicia Ajibade to steal foodstuffs and other items worth a total of NGN300,000 .

Among the stolen goods were rice, beans, milk powder, palm oil, vegetable oil, pasta, baby clothes, a solar panel and an Android phone. The teenager was apprehended by security officers who handed him over to the police.
