Deadly clashes between the South African army and the M23 rebels in Sake

Fatshimetrie, the online news site, reports the latest toll of the clashes between the South African Army (SANDF) and the M23 rebels. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, May 30 near the city of Sake, cost the life of a South African soldier. In addition, thirteen other soldiers were injured during the exchange of fire with the insurgents.

According to information transmitted by the SANDF, the fighting broke out in Sake when a group of South African soldiers came into contact with the M23 members. Unfortunately, one soldier succumbed to his injuries, while the other thirteen injured were evacuated to the hospital in Goma for treatment.

In addition to the human losses, the rebels also managed to destroy two armored vehicles belonging to the South African forces. These clashes are part of the actions carried out by the SADC Force to combat the M23 rebellion in the region.

South Africa, which is actively participating in this mission, now deplores a total of four soldiers killed during the clashes with the M23 rebels. These losses are a reminder of the dangerous nature of this mission and the need to maintain a strong mobilization of troops to ensure the security of the region.

This umpteenth incident underlines once again the complexity and violence of armed conflicts in Africa, highlighting the risks faced by soldiers engaged on the ground.
