Alarm call: Twenty homeless families in front of the Provincial Assembly

The affair of the twenty households forced to spend the night under the stars in front of the administrative building of the South Ubangi Provincial Assembly since May 29 shines the spotlight on a delicate land conflict.

The heads of these households based in Libenge Moke in the commune of Labo saw their daily lives disrupted by a legal decision in favor of the 17th Evangelical Community of Christ of Ubangi (CECU). Evicted from their homes following the execution of this judgment, these families now find themselves homeless, exposed to bad weather alongside their children, including newborns.

In this context of distress, these families decided to demonstrate their dismay by spending the night in front of the Provincial Assembly, calling on the authorities to find a just and equitable solution to their situation. Their cry of alarm underlines the urgency of taking into account the human consequences of these decisions which directly impact the lives of these citizens.

Solidarity is also being organized, with the support of Junior Provincial Deputy Ambeke Likela, who provided food and non-food items to these destitute families. This assistance slightly alleviates the suffering of those displaced but highlights the need for a structural response to this crisis.

Beyond one-off assistance, it is essential to question the legal and administrative mechanisms that led to this situation. Transparency and fairness must guide the decisions of the authorities to prevent other families from finding themselves in such precariousness.

The standoff between evicted households and the CECU reveals the flaws in a system where private interests can come up against the fundamental rights of citizens. This affair highlights the need for in-depth reform of land management to guarantee the security and stability of Congolese households.

In conclusion, the urgency of the situation calls for concerted and rapid action by local and national authorities to find a just and lasting solution to this conflict. Humanity and justice must prevail in the resolution of this case so that these families can regain their dignity and stability.
