The decision was taken by the Managing Director, Media and Publicity, Sanusi Tofa, on Wednesday, in Kano. In an official statement, he called on the police, the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) to apprehend, detain and prosecute any individual or group violating the order.

“This decisive action is a preventative strategy aimed at avoiding any possible disruption of public order orchestrated by adversaries of the state.

“We have credible intelligence that some prominent figures in the opposition party in Kano have hatched plans to sponsor student associations and political agitators from other North-West States.

“Their intention is to cause chaos under the guise of defending the former Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero,” he said.

He said the state government has banned protests, demonstrations or processions of any kind. Yusuf said individuals found on the streets of Kano engaging in such activities will be promptly arrested.

“Through this statement, we warn student groups against manipulation by troublemakers bent on creating disorder in Kano,” he added.

This preventive measure aims to guarantee peace and security in the region, while maintaining state authority. The authorities remain vigilant against any attempt at destabilization.

Therefore, it is paramount for all stakeholders to respect the order in place and preserve social harmony in Kano. The cooperation of all is essential to ensure a stable and prosperous environment for all residents of the region.
