Lower fuel prices in the DRC: Good news for consumers in the western zone

In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), fuel consumers in the western zone can rejoice in a drop in prices implemented from this Saturday, May 25. This decision follows an upward revision made a month earlier by the Congolese government.

The announcement of this drop in prices was made official by a decree signed on May 23 by the Deputy Prime Minister, ad interim Minister of the National Economy. This approach stems from the report issued by the subcommittee in charge of the work on the technical concerns raised during the special meeting of the committee for monitoring the prices of petroleum products, which was held on May 15 and 16.

In detail, this downward revision led to a reduction in the price of a liter of gasoline, going from 3475 FC to 3440 FC. Likewise, the price of oil is now set at 2875 FC, compared to 2900 FC previously. Motorists who use diesel can also benefit from a reduction, with the price going from 3465 FC to 3435 FC. Finally, Fomi also recorded a reduction in its price, from 2085 FC to 2021 FC. It should be noted that the exchange rate remains fixed at 2500 FC for 1 dollar.

This measure concerns several provinces in the western zone of the DRC, including Kinshasa, Equateur, Kongo-Central, Kwango, Kwilu, Mai-Ndombe, Mongala, Nord-Ubangi, Sud-Ubangi and Tshuapa. .

This drop in fuel prices in the western zone of the DRC should relieve consumers and have a positive impact on their purchasing power. This is an important step for the Congolese government to guarantee more affordable access to petroleum products and contribute to better economic stability in the region.
