MedFest offers a free three-month workshop called “Script to Screen” to help you hone your short film screenwriting skills.
Eight lucky people, whether amateurs or professionals, will be selected among participants from Minya, Sohag, Beni Suef, Dakahlia, Beheira, Port Said and Cairo. In addition to receiving expert advice, the Forum will also cover your accommodation and transportation costs.
Most importantly, two workshop participants will be awarded production grants worth approximately 250,000 Egyptian pounds.
The workshop will be led by renowned film director and script consultant Ayman El-Amir.
El-Amir has extensive experience, having contributed to films such as “Goodbye Julia” and “Costa Brava” (selected for “Un Certain Regard” at Cannes). He also directed “The Brink of Dreams”, which participated in the Critics’ Week competition in Cannes.
But that’s not all ! MedFest is particularly interested in stories exploring mental and physical health. They want to see characters with depth and psychological complexity, addressing themes related to well-being.
The first phase of the program focuses on developing original health-related stories and transforming them into full screenplays. MedFest is committed to supporting these projects by providing production grants to two exceptional films!
As for what makes the “Script to Screen” program special, “The program is accessible to all writers, especially experienced ones. We are also keen to provide opportunities to Egyptian youth,” said El-Naggar, adding that, “As for this year’s main themes, they focus on social species and their impact on different forms of violence, as well as increasing production subsidies. Interviews and presentations of these films will be available to a number of producers during the festival.”
Don’t miss this opportunity to make your screenwriting dreams come true! Apply for the “Script to Screen” program before May 25.
