Fatshimetrie – War displaced persons in Minova and Bweremana benefit from aid from the provincial government of North Kivu
The situation of those displaced by war is still worrying in many regions of the world, and North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo is unfortunately no exception. However, a ray of hope was brought to a few thousand of these struggling people, as the provincial governor, General Peter Cirimwami, visited to provide them with welcome assistance.
In Minova and Bweremana, families displaced following armed conflicts received initial assistance including food and non-food items. This significant action was welcomed by the beneficiaries, who finally feel cared for and supported in a particularly difficult period of their lives.
Governor Cirimwami’s initiative goes beyond the simple distribution of material goods. Indeed, his visit to the site also made it possible to assess the needs of this deprived population and to become aware of the reality of their daily life. This is an essential humanitarian approach, highlighting the importance of listening to and acting in favor of the most vulnerable.
The governor’s advisor, Prisca Luanda Kamala, highlighted the importance of this humanitarian visit. By going there, the governor demonstrated his commitment to these families victims of the conflict, thus recognizing the urgency of the situation and the need for rapid and effective intervention.
The story of Bahati Munguiko, president of the displaced, testifies to the positive impact of this action. “We are happy to see our governor,” he says. “He brought us clothes, shoes, oil, flour, rice and salt…” These gestures of solidarity and compassion are essential to maintain a semblance of dignity and hope within of these populations hard hit by conflicts.
Beyond material assistance, the governor’s visit also made it possible to identify urgent medical needs, as evidenced by the evacuation of a woman injured by bomb fragments. This responsiveness to emergency situations demonstrates the desire of local authorities to respond holistically to the needs of the displaced.
Ultimately, Governor Cirimwami’s initiative with regard to those displaced by war in Minova and Bweremana embodies the spirit of solidarity and mutual support essential in times of crisis. These humanitarian actions are a crucial step towards healing the trauma caused by war, and offer hope of reconstruction and resilience for these battered communities.
