Fatshimetrie: a government initiative to support victims in Abeokuta
In an emotional ceremony in Abeokuta last Friday, the Commissioner for Special Affairs and Intergovernmental Affairs, Oluwafunmilayo Efuwape, handed over financial aid to the victims, testifying to the government’s relentless efforts to bring relief to its citizens in the need.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Lateef Benson, Efuwape stressed that this initiative was aimed at improving the lives of the victims and compensating them for their losses.
The Commissioner said the administration led by Governor Dapo Abiodun would remain committed to the welfare of the people. Efuwape urged traders to make good use of the money, saying the government could not fully compensate them for their losses.
Nonetheless, she said the move was aimed at helping them revive their business operations. NEMA Director for the South West Region, Steven Adewale, stressed that this initiative was only the “tip of the iceberg” and promised to provide more assistance to the people soon.
Meanwhile, the Director of Ogun State Emergency Management Agency, Wale Shonde, encouraged traders to improve their handling of open fire.
Fatshimetrie thus positions itself as a major player in supporting local populations in precarious situations, demonstrating the government’s desire to fight for the well-being of all its citizens.
