Boxers from the Democratic Republic of Congo shone during the recent African Games held in Accra, Ghana. With exceptional performances, Congolese athletes were able to show all their talent in the ring.
During this competition, Kolongo Bakora, a young 18-year-old talent, won his victory by beating the Equatorial Guinean Luis Mario in the round of 16. For his part, Boniface Zengala, African champion among men under 67 kilos, distinguished himself by eliminating his Seychellois opponent in the first round.
But it was Matete Balo, champion of Congo, who offered a breathtaking performance by beating Juan Marcos of Equatorial Guinea by knockout in the first round, among men under 72 kilos. Their qualification for the quarter-finals promises ever more intense confrontations, particularly against formidable opponents like Olaore from Nigeria.
These victories of Congolese boxers testify to the talent and determination of these athletes who carry the colors of their country high on the international stage. We can only salute their performance and encourage them for the rest of the competition.
Combat sports enthusiasts will not fail to closely follow the next stages of these African Games which still hold great surprises and great moments of emotion in the ring.
