**Transfer of equipment by the Chinese contingent of MONUSCO in the DRC**

In the heart of Africa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a generous and symbolic gesture marks the end of the mission of the Chinese peacekeepers of MONUSCO. A batch of equipment worth more than seven million US dollars was handed over to the Congolese government, a sign of a strong partnership between China and the DRC for the development and stabilization of the country.

This donation, consisting of nearly fifty thousand engineering tools and machines, is of capital importance for the reconstruction and development of the Congolese territory. Bulldozers, forklifts, dump trucks, all essential tools for upcoming infrastructure projects and construction sites in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

But this gesture of solidarity goes well beyond just equipment. The hospital managed by the Chinese contingent in Bukavu also made its contribution by offering more than forty thousand medical equipment, including an ambulance, vehicles and various medical equipment and instruments. Valuable support to strengthen medical care capacities in the region.

The head of MONUSCO, Bintou Keita, welcomed this initiative with admiration and underlined the unwavering commitment of the People’s Republic of China to peace and development in the DRC. This gesture demonstrates China’s desire to support the DRC on the path to stability and prosperity.

The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo is committed to using these precious assets for the consolidation of peace and social development. A strong commitment to the Congolese population who aspire to a better and more secure future.

This transfer of equipment is part of the gradual disengagement of MONUSCO from South Kivu, which began in January 2024. Since their deployment in 2003, Chinese peacekeepers have played an essential role in strengthening infrastructure and capacities local. They have carried out numerous engineering projects that have helped improve access to basic services and promote economic development in the region.

In this period of transition, marked by the gradual withdrawal of UN forces, this gesture of solidarity and commitment testifies to the perseverance and dedication of international actors for peace and development in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A page is turning, but the hope for a better future remains, buoyed by generosity and international cooperation.
