Terror and destruction: Tragic fire caused by tanker accident in Abeokuta

In a tragic incident in Abeokuta, Nigeria, an accident involving a fuel tanker and several vehicles caused terror and destruction. The spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for Ogun region, Florence Okpe, confirmed the event, saying it occurred at 4:10 p.m.

According to information provided by Okpe, six people were involved in the accident, all male adults. Unfortunately, one of the occupants, the motor boy, lost his life, while two others were injured. The accident involved five vehicles in total, including two Nissans with registration plates AAN 544 YC and LSD 993 CY, a Sino tanker with registration number T23771 LA, and a Micra with registration number GDB 841 license plate.

The FRSC spokesperson’s account revealed that the tanker suffered a brake failure, causing it to lose control and collide with the road barrier, subsequently causing a devastating fire. The flames quickly engulfed several vehicles and nearby businesses.

The relevant authorities responded quickly by contacting the fire services while securing the accident area to avoid further danger. The victim’s body was taken to the morgue of the Abeokuta State General Hospital, and the injured were looked after by their families.
