Fatshimeterie: Major improvement in the care of pregnant women in Kinshasa

The Health Solidarity Fund (FSS) has announced a significant evaluation of its medical care program for pregnant women in the Kinshasa region, Democratic Republic of Congo. Launched in October 2023, this initiative aims to provide comprehensive healthcare for pregnant women from prenatal to postnatal, up to 28 days after delivery.

In a recent statement, Lubala Kampema, Director General of FSS, emphasized the positive impact of the program on the community. Over eighty-five thousand women and newborns have already benefited from these essential services. This initiative aligns with the government’s efforts to enhance maternal and child healthcare, ultimately reducing maternal and child mortality rates in the region.

Lubala Kampema, in an exclusive interview with Taty DILENGENDJU Mapuku, highlighted the significance of the biannual evaluation of the FSS and healthcare providers in Kinshasa. This assessment will help identify strengths in the program and facilitate improvements to ensure optimal care for pregnant women and newborns.

This approach underscores the dedication of FSS and the Congolese government to maternal and child health. By offering quality, free medical services to pregnant women, FSS aids in preventing pregnancy-related complications and promoting the well-being of mothers and infants.

The evaluation of the medical care program for pregnant women in Kinshasa by FSS underscores the importance of prioritizing maternal health. Through investments in initiatives like this, the Congolese government shows commitment to the health of pregnant women and infants, contributing to a healthier and more promising future for all.
