The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has recently implemented stringent measures against private jet operators who have been found violating aviation regulations. The authority suspended the Permit for Non-Commercial Flights (PNCF) of three operators engaged in illegal commercial activities, following warnings issued in March 2024.
As Acting Director General, Captain Chris Najomo emphasized the importance of enhanced controls at Nigerian airports, leading to the identification and shutdown of three operators breaching PNCF conditions according to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023.
In response to these violations, the NCAA has initiated a comprehensive review of all PNCF holders to ensure compliance with regulatory standards by April 19, 2024. PNCF holders were urged to submit required documentation promptly to expedite the process. Najomo reiterated that these steps underscore the NCAA’s commitment to bolstering security in Nigerian airspace.
Additionally, the authority cautioned the public against utilizing charter operators lacking a valid air carrier certificate and encouraged legitimate industry stakeholders to promptly report any suspicious activities.
The recent crackdown follows the NCAA’s stern warning in March against PNCF holders involved in unauthorized commercial operations. In a milieu where aviation safety is paramount, these stringent actions highlight the necessity of adhering to established rules and standards to maintain a secure and regulated aviation environment.
