In a recent military operation in Nigeria, the armed forces achieved a significant victory against violent extremists, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in the North West region. The Operation Information Officer, Lieutenant Suleman Omale, conveyed these details in a press statement in Gusau, highlighting the success of the operation against the terrorist groups.
During the operation, the troops successfully secured control of Babban Doka, Gobirawa Challi, and Kabaro communities in Maru district after engaging in a fierce armed encounter with the terrorists. The courage and determination displayed by the soldiers were exceptional, resulting in the neutralization of 12 terrorists and the dispersal of the remaining perpetrators, some of whom sustained gunshot injuries.
In the subsequent search operation, the troops seized a significant cache of arms belonging to the terrorists, including an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, specialized 7.62 mm caliber ammunition, a homemade rifle, and a hunting rifle. Furthermore, 18 head of cattle and 10 motorcycles owned by the attackers were confiscated and demolished on site, symbolizing a significant triumph for the security forces.
Brigadier-General Sani Ahmed, the Commander of the 1st Brigade and Sector 1 OPHD, commended the troops for their resilience, determination, and valor exhibited during the operation. He encouraged the soldiers to maintain their momentum and continue their efforts until peace is fully restored in the region.
