The Iftar Banquet event in Matariyah, Cairo, held on the 15th day of Ramadan, was hailed as a brilliant initiative highlighting the ingenuity of the Egyptian people. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly expressed his gratitude to the organizing team during a meeting at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. He encouraged those responsible to continue to keep this initiative alive.
This mass iftar banquet brought together thousands of local residents, volunteers from other governorates, as well as foreigners and non-Muslims. It revealed synergy and cohesion within the Matariyah community, illustrating the spirit of cooperation that characterizes Egyptians in times of crisis. This solidarity contributes to promoting the culture of citizenship and strengthening fraternal bonds.
The event, held for the 10th consecutive year, mobilized around 400 volunteers to set up nearly 700 tables along the carefully decorated streets and alleys, before filling them with dishes prepared by members of the community . Although the number of participants has not been officially confirmed, organizers estimate that up to 30,000 people gathered to break the fast after sunset.
This celebration perfectly illustrates the spirit of solidarity and unity that animates the Egyptian community, thus strengthening social bonds and promoting a shared sense of belonging. The diversity of the participants, coming from different backgrounds, testifies to the capacity of the Egyptian people to come together around common values, overcoming divisions and celebrating together the richness of their culture and their solidarity.
