Governor Abiodun Takes Initiative to Support Public Servants with Discounted Rice Sales

During a special Iftar event hosted for the League of Imams and Alfas in Abeokuta on Tuesday, March 27, 2024, Governor Abiodun disclosed his administration’s plan to sell rice to public servants at a reduced price to help alleviate the impact of inflation on their purchasing power.

The Governor highlighted that the sale of rice at a 50% discount would commence with public servants at all levels. This decision was motivated by the administration’s commitment to restoring the financial stability of public servants and easing the burden caused by rising prices.

In his address, Governor Abiodun stated, “We have decided to commence the sale of rice at a subsidized price of 50% off the actual cost. We will start with our civil servants. This initiative aims to empower them by returning their purchasing power to pre-inflation levels.”

To ensure the smooth implementation of the discounted rice sales, a committee has been established to oversee the process. The Governor emphasized that selling rice at a reduced price will enable the administration to maintain a sustainable supply and continue offering the benefit to the public.

“We have established a committee to oversee the sale of rice. By selling at a discounted rate, we can reinvest the proceeds to acquire more rice for distribution. This approach will allow us to support more individuals and families in need,” Governor Abiodun remarked.

The initiative to provide discounted rice to public servants demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting its workforce and addressing the challenges posed by inflation. By prioritizing the welfare of civil servants, Governor Abiodun’s administration is taking proactive steps to mitigate the economic impact on individuals and promote financial stability within the community.

In conclusion, the discounted rice sales program serves as a commendable effort by the government to assist public servants during these challenging times, fostering a sense of solidarity and support within the community.
