“Together to end tuberculosis in the DRC: A look back at World Tuberculosis Day”

On March 24, 2024, World Tuberculosis Day was celebrated with strength and commitment in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This event made it possible to draw up an alarming observation of the tuberculosis situation in the country, with worrying figures which testify to the persistence of this disease as a major challenge for Congolese public health.

The Ministry of Health stressed that the DRC is one of the countries most affected by tuberculosis, with an increase in cases reported in 2023. Despite these worrying figures, the main message remains that of hope and the fight: Tuberculosis is a curable disease, and effective and free treatments are available in all Health Centers.

The government has made strong commitments to increase funding for the fight against tuberculosis, improve the supply of medicines and make the response to the disease more equitable and people-centered. The mobilization of the population is essential to end tuberculosis in the DRC.

With the theme “Yes! Together, we can end Tuberculosis in the DRC”, World Tuberculosis Day aims to raise awareness of the importance of this fight against a disease ranked among the main causes of death in the world. . By uniting and acting together, it is possible to defeat tuberculosis and provide a healthier future for all Congolese people.
