“Innovative partnership for sustainable development in Yangambi: the alliance between INERA, STAR and CIFOR”

The National Institute for Agronomic Study and Research (INERA), the STAR company and the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) have just concluded a major partnership on March 13, aimed at promoting sustainable development in the landscape of Yangambi.

This innovative partnership aims to support the development of INERA, as well as the implementation of new technologies and innovations. The Director General of the Center for International Forestry Research, Robert Nasi, emphasizes that this partnership will encompass several actions, in particular the improvement of agricultural and agroforestry sectors already identified in the Yangambi region.

Among the targeted sectors are coffee, cocoa, rubber, palm trees and wood. The objective is to stimulate the development of these currently under-exploited sectors, with an emphasis on supporting small and medium-sized businesses managed by young people. Robert Nasi insists on the importance of supporting these entrepreneurs by explaining to them how the sectors work, as well as the potential benefits that go beyond simple turnover.

Furthermore, this partnership agreement includes all stakeholders involved in the Yangambi landscape, including technical and financial partners, the private sector and local SMEs. The chief of staff of the Minister of Scientific Research underlines the importance that the economic spinoffs of this partnership directly benefit farmers in the region.

This public-private partnership promises to be a promising initiative to promote sustainable and equitable development in the Yangambi landscape. The collaboration between INERA, STAR and CIFOR promises to provide concrete solutions to boost the region’s agricultural and agroforestry sectors, while supporting young local entrepreneurs and SMEs.
