“Emergency in Kenge: Erosion heads threaten the survival of the general hospital”

It is with deep concern that the town of Kenge is faced with a growing threat: the heads of erosion which endanger the buildings of the general hospital. Five in number, these ravines have already engulfed the establishment’s hygienic facilities, endangering the health of patients and the sustainability of medical services.

Buildings housing essential services such as gynecology, pediatrics and administrative headquarters are now in imminent danger. The risk of collapse in the event of rainfall is a major concern for local authorities, in particular the mayor of the town of Kenge, who is urgently appealing for emergency intervention to stem these erosions.

Noël Kuketuka, the mayor, sincerely expresses his concern: “The old building where the patients are located is under threat. The toilets have already been damaged. If we lose this hospital, we will also lose access to doctors and health services. quality health. The situation is critical for the internal medicine, gynecology, pediatrics services and for the administration. We cannot afford to see this establishment collapse without reacting.

The urgent nature of the situation is all the more glaring as local authorities emphasize that this threat is not new. Indeed, since 2023, the town of Kenge has faced an increasing number of erosion heads, highlighting a crucial need for prevention measures and infrastructure protection.

Despite an estimate drawn up several years ago to combat these erosions, the necessary funds have not been released to implement the solutions envisaged. A call for help was launched to the central government to finance this essential work, with an initial amount of $12 million, reduced to $3 million at the request of the central authorities, but which has remained unanswered until now.

The security of the Kenge General Hospital buildings is more than ever threatened. If concrete measures are not taken quickly, the health and well-being of the local population will be seriously compromised. It is imperative that action is taken urgently to protect and save this vital facility for the Kenge community.
