In a gesture of tribute and recognition, a special court session was held at the Ondo State High Court in Akure in honor of the late former governor. During the ceremony, the Deputy Governor, Aiyedatiwa, noted that the late governor used his knowledge, quick thinking and abilities to uphold the peaceful existence of people.
He stressed that the deceased’s actions during his life had had a considerable impact. According to him, the late Akeredolu was a strong advocate of justice and the rule of law. The deputy governor added that the late Akeredolu was always dissatisfied when justice was not served. He described the honor bestowed on the late governor as richly deserved as his life centered around the legal profession.
“He was an achiever with stories of success. He was firm and committed to truth and justice,” he said.
The state Chief Justice noted that the late Akeredolu was more celebrated in death than in life, considering his achievements and life journey. He also commended the courageous fight waged by the deceased against serious security challenges in the state, stressing that it was commendable that the late Akeredolu did not interfere in judicial activities even when it did not suit his desires.
The Chief Justice concluded by mentioning that the late Akeredolu would remain an important benchmark for humanity, an example of an exceptional legal icon and a political colossus. The President of the Nigerian Bar Association highlighted the late former governor’s passion and commitment to helping humanity and ensuring peace, describing him as a person of humility, truth and justice.
In the presence of dignitaries such as Governor Abdulrasak Abdulrahman of Kwara, Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Olayide Adelami, Chief Olusola Oke, a renowned lawyer, and the Chairman of the APC in Ondo, Ade Adetimehin, this collective tribute was a moment of unity to salute the memory of this great man.
The special sitting at the Ondo High Court served to shed light on the life and legacy of the late Akeredolu, a man whose integrity and dedication to justice left an indelible mark on the history of the State.
