**The struggle for freedom and justice: a sad reality in Russia**
The disappearance of political opponent Alexei Navalny once again raises questions about the growing repression of the Vladimir Putin regime against those who dare to challenge its authority. Unfortunately, Navalny joins a sad list of opposition figures who have suffered tragic fates.
Among them, Anna Politkovskaya, a courageous journalist and Kremlin critic, was shot dead in mysterious circumstances in 2006. Her murder remains unsolved, despite suspicions against the Putin regime. Likewise, the polonium-210 poisoning of former Russian agent Alexander Litvinenko in 2006 also highlighted the dangers facing political opponents in Russia.
More recently, in 2019, a young Russian activist was sentenced to several years in prison for tweeting messages critical of the government. This repression continues to spread, affecting not only political opponents, but also human rights defenders and journalists.
Faced with these realities, it is crucial to remain vigilant and support those fighting for freedom and justice in Russia. The stories of Navalny, Politkovskaya, Litvinenko and so many others should serve as a reminder of the need to protect freedom of expression and fundamental rights for all.
Together, let’s continue to bear witness to these tragedies and hold the Russian government accountable. The truth and justice for these victims must not be forgotten, but on the contrary, honored by our commitment to defend democracy and human rights wherever they are threatened in the world.
