Major political change in the DRC: the resignation of Prime Minister Sama Lukonde opens the way to new challenges

The political landscape of the Democratic Republic of Congo was recently shaken by the resignation of Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde. After leading the government since February 2021, Sama Lukonde made the decision to resign in order to devote himself to his new parliamentary mandate.

This decision, in accordance with legal texts, led to the dissolution of the entire government team, made up of 39 members elected to the national or provincial delegation. Faced with this major change, the government will now be responsible for carrying out current affairs while awaiting the formation of a new government.

The resignation of Sama Lukonde marks the end of a chapter and opens the way to new challenges for the Democratic Republic of Congo. As the country goes through a particular period, marked by political instability, it is essential that current affairs are managed effectively to ensure the continuity of public services.

Pending the formation of a new government, it is essential that the Prime Minister and the members still in office ensure a smooth transition and guarantee the stability necessary for the proper functioning of the institutions.

This transition period will therefore be crucial for the DRC, which will have to face numerous political, economic and social challenges. It is essential that the different political actors work together to guarantee stable and effective governance, serving the Congolese people.
