In the media landscape of Kinshasa, a laudable initiative has emerged to raise awareness among journalists of the dangers of ionizing rays. The Association of Independent Journalists and Editors of Congo organized a workshop to inform and educate more than 40 media professionals on the harmful effects of this radiation, often poorly understood by the general public.
During this workshop, the Director of Authorizations, Eddy Bosanga, stressed the importance of protecting yourself against ionizing radiation, widely used in the medical, mining, industrial and research fields. He warned of the harmful consequences of this poorly controlled radiation, which could lead to serious health problems such as cancer or the deterioration of germ cells.
This awareness is all the more crucial as the National Committee for Protection against Ionizing Radiation (CNPRI) ensures the safety of workers exposed to this radiation, as well as the preservation of the environment. Operational since 2002, the CNPRI plays an essential role in preventing the harmful effects of ionizing radiation.
This workshop marks an important step forward in raising awareness among media professionals and the general public about the risks associated with ionizing rays. It underlines the importance of training and information in protecting health and the environment in the face of these invisible but very real dangers.
