“Towards a democratic turning point: the national deputies of the DR Congo gathered for the adoption of the Internal Regulations of the National Assembly”

On February 19, 2024, political life in the Democratic Republic of Congo took a new turn with the summons of national deputies for a plenary session at the People’s Palace. This meeting, organized by the provisional office of the lower house of parliament, has the main objective of developing and adopting the internal regulations of the National Assembly.

The importance of this session cannot be understated, as it marks a crucial step in the country’s democratic process. Indeed, the election and installation of the final office of the National Assembly are dependent on the conformity of the internal regulations with the Constitution of the DR Congo, as underlined by a former national deputy from the territory of Beni.

Once the internal regulations have been sent to the Constitutional Court for examination, the provisional office of the National Assembly will be able to proceed with the organization of elections and the installation of members of the final office of the Lower House. This step is essential to guarantee the proper functioning and legitimacy of the country’s democratic institutions.

Beyond political and legal considerations, this plenary session symbolizes the commitment of national deputies to democracy and the rule of law in DR Congo. Compliance with established procedures and standards is a guarantee of transparency and legitimacy for the representatives of the people.

In conclusion, the active participation of national deputies in this plenary session of the Congolese parliament on February 19, 2024 testifies to their responsibility and their determination to work for the general interest and the well-being of the Congolese population. This historic moment embodies the hope of a democratic and prosperous future for the DR Congo.
