In the restive region of Masisi, a recent lull is reported, marking a relative pause in hostilities between the FARDC and the M23. Clashes eased in Sake and surrounding Shasha, providing a welcome respite for residents. The Congolese armed forces, supported by the courageous young patriots nicknamed “Wazalendo”, managed to regain control of certain localities recently abandoned by the M23/RDF rebels, in the Kamuronza grouping.
Although M23 rebels are reported in several sectors such as Rutobogo, Mushaki, Kitshanga, or even Karuba and Shasha, there is currently a relative calm on the front lines. The fighting has stopped for several days, indicating a less tense situation than before. This reduction in clashes has allowed the population of Sake to regain a semblance of security, even if the threat persists in the surrounding area.
In a gesture of solidarity and resistance, dozens of members of different citizen movements and pressure groups demonstrated in Goma to support the FARDC against the M23/RDF terrorists. This demonstration also aimed to denounce foreign interference in the conflict and to encourage the population to remain united against the common enemy. Despite the march being banned by local authorities, demonstrators expressed their determination by burning flags of certain countries suspected of supporting the M23.
The mobilization and determination displayed during this demonstration testify to the desire of the Congolese people not to give in to external aggression and to defend their territory at all costs. Despite the obstacles encountered, the population remains firmly united to stand together against the hostile forces that threaten the stability of the region.
This situation highlights the resilience and determination of the Congolese people in the face of adversity, and underlines the importance of solidarity and unity in the fight for peace and security in the region.
