The National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Congo is preparing for an important plenary session this Monday, February 19 at the People’s Palace. This meeting, convened by the Provisional Bureau, will put on the agenda the development and adoption of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.
At the heart of the debates will be the question of the 250 articles making up these internal regulations, the conformity of which may be subject to examination by the Constitutional Court. This step is crucial to ensure the proper functioning of the National Assembly and define the rules and procedures that will govern the work of deputies.
In this legislature, the Internal Regulations had already been revisited to include new permanent commissions, thus reflecting current societal issues. Among these, we find commissions dedicated to the promotion of gender, the protection of human rights and the evaluation of the laws in force.
After this stage, the National Assembly will address the appointment of its final office, thus marking the end of this extraordinary session. These strategic decisions will have a significant impact on the future work of the institution and on the governance of the country.
This meeting therefore promises to be a key moment for parliamentary life in the DRC, where deputies will be keen to debate and decide in favor of the general interest. Let us remain attentive to the decisions that will be taken and the impact they will have on the political life of the country.
