The incident occurred on January 9, 2024, when an altercation between a trader residing in Ogba and a complainant escalated into an act of violence. According to reports, an argument over money broke out between the complainant, Samsudeen Jolaosho, and the defendant.
The tension having increased, the defendant allegedly struck a blow using a pair of scissors, causing an injury to the waist of the plaintiff. Blood then began to flow profusely, and it was thanks to the intervention of compassionate passers-by that the complainant was quickly taken to hospital to receive the necessary care.
The charges against the defendant are serious, falling under Sections 168 and 173 of the Lagos State Penal Code, 2015, relating to breach of the peace and acts of violence.
At his trial, the defendant pleaded not guilty, and Magistrate M. O. Popoola granted bail of ₦100,000 with two sureties to ensure his subsequent appearance.
