**Provincial elected officials from Tshopo validated in Kisangani**
On Saturday February 18, in Kisangani, the mandates of 27 provincial deputies of Tshopo were officially validated during a plenary session chaired by the president of the provisional office of the deliberative body. Before this validation, the files of each candidate were carefully examined by three commissions specially formed for this purpose.
The first commission focused on the elected representatives of the territories of Banalia, Basoko, Isangi and Yahuma, the second examined those of the territories of Bafwasende, Opala and Ubundu, while the third verified the files of the elected representatives of the town of Kisangani. The reports of these commissions were deemed admissible by all the provincial deputies present.
Pending the decisions of the ongoing disputes at the Court of Appeal between certain candidates and the CENI, the deputies proclaimed by the latter can now exercise their mandate legally, covered by their parliamentary immunities.
At the end of the plenary session, several deputies expressed their commitment to working for the interest of the population and the development of Tshopo. They stressed that the time has come to put in place concrete initiatives to meet citizens’ expectations and actively contribute to the development of their province.
These 27 deputies will soon be joined by two traditional chiefs, from Isangi and Bafwasende, who will be co-opted to join the provincial assembly. This new composition promises to bring a breath of renewal and commitment within the deliberative body of Tshopo.
