“Congolese women unite against war: a message of strength and solidarity for peace”

In an act of courage and solidarity, the spouses of soldiers from the 21st military region, based in Mbuji-Mayi, and the spouses of police officers from Kasai-Oriental recently took part in a symbolic march against the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo , more precisely in the East, where the conflict continues under the influence of the M23 rebel group, supported by Rwanda.

Under the leadership of the Provincial Minister of Gender, Family and Children, Rose Bambila, these women mobilized dressed in black, expressing their deep sadness at the tragedies caused by this deadly conflict. Armed with signs and tarpaulins denouncing the violence, they covered a distance of 6 km, from Bonzola Square to the Provincial Governorate where they submitted a memorandum to the Provincial Authority.

In this poignant document, read before Interim Governor Julie Kalenga, the demonstrators strongly condemned the cruelty inflicted by the M23, pointing the finger at Rwanda and the international community for their inaction in the face of the suffering of the Congolese people.

Governor Julie Kalenga Kabongo assured her unwavering support to the armed forces of the DRC engaged on the front lines of the fight for peace. She called for a general mobilization, in accordance with the call of President Félix Tshisekedi, in order to put an end to this unjust war imposed on the country.

This symbolic march, led by these courageous women, recalls the urgent need to put an end to the violence and suffering inflicted by armed conflicts in the DRC. Their message of peace and solidarity resonates as a call to collective action for a more peaceful and prosperous future for all Congolese.
