“The new legislature of Kinshasa: deputies determined to move the city province forward”

The 2024-2028 legislature officially began at the Kinshasa Provincial Assembly, marking the beginning of a new political chapter for the city province. During the plenary session to install the provisional office, 39 deputies responded out of the 48 in the Assembly.

Among these deputies, Israel Kabenda Kayuwa, elected from the commune of Kinshasa, expresses his desire to play a major role in controlling the provincial government. According to him, this is the main work to be accomplished during this mandate. In addition, he also plans to propose laws aimed at promoting the advancement of the city. However, he emphasizes that the real challenge lies in the desire to work together for the good of all.

As a representative of the commune of Kinshasa, Israel Kabenda highlights the difficulties this electoral constituency faces. His priority will therefore be to tackle the problems of the city’s dilapidated road infrastructure. He cites in particular the critical state of the main road in the commune, Kabambare, as well as the damage suffered by the Bokassa and Kasavubu roads. For him, security, roads and sanitation in the provincial city of Kinshasa are all areas that require particular attention.

In Kinshasa, only 9 provincial deputies out of 48 were re-elected, thus highlighting the importance of the new faces who will make up this legislature. Among these elected officials, there are 5 women, a sign of increased representation within the Provincial Assembly.

In conclusion, the new legislature in Kinshasa promises to be an opportunity to put in place measures aimed at improving the lives of citizens. Through the control of the provincial government and the proposal of relevant laws, the deputies position themselves as key actors in the development of the city province of Kinshasa. It remains to be seen what concrete actions will be implemented to address the many challenges that arise.
