Title: The challenges of the Sacred Union in North Kivu: improving education and the social situation

Introduction :
The provincial coordination of the Union Sacrée in North Kivu recently organized a conference-debate during which participants expressed their expectations for the second term of the president and the government. Among the main demands, we find in particular the need to improve free education by increasing teachers’ salaries, to rejuvenate the political class, to expand free maternity measures, to create more jobs and to set up a permanent care mechanism for those displaced by war. These requests are part of the desire of the population of North Kivu to see a real improvement in the social situation in the region.

I. Revaluation of teachers’ salaries for better free education
Free education constitutes one of the pillars of the Sacred Union in North Kivu. However, the participants in the conference-debate stressed that a real improvement in this free provision requires an increase in teachers’ salaries. Indeed, the latter are often poorly paid, which has an impact on their motivation and their investment in their educational mission. By increasing their salaries, we could attract more talented and qualified people to the teaching field, while offering more attractive working conditions. This would make it possible to improve the quality of education and guarantee truly free education for all students.

II. The rejuvenation of the political class: a necessity for dynamic governance
Another essential point raised during the conference-debate is the need to rejuvenate the political class in North Kivu. Participants expressed the need to see new generations of leaders emerge, bringing innovative ideas and capable of responding to current challenges. By encouraging the arrival of young, committed politicians, we could breathe a breath of fresh air into the political management of the region. This would also make it possible to give a more representative voice to young people, who constitute a significant part of the population and who aspire to be more involved in the decisions that concern them.

III. The expansion of free measures for better social care
In addition to education, participants also underlined the importance of extending free measures to other social areas. Among the key recommendations, free maternity was strongly mentioned. Although this measure is already in place in some provinces, it is crucial to extend it to the entire country to guarantee equitable access to health care for all pregnant women.. In addition, the participants expressed the need for the establishment of a permanent care mechanism for those displaced by war, in order to ensure their security and well-being in a context of persistent conflict.

IV. Job creation to combat youth unemployment
Youth unemployment is a major challenge in North Kivu. Participants called for strong political will to create more jobs and provide economic opportunities for young people. By promoting entrepreneurship, supporting small and medium-sized businesses and investing in promising sectors such as agriculture and tourism, it would be possible to stimulate the creation of sustainable jobs and reduce the unemployment rate. This would also boost the local economy and strengthen the social fabric of the region.

Conclusion :
The conference-debate organized by the provincial coordination of Union Sacrée in North Kivu highlighted the expectations and demands of the population in terms of improving education and the social situation. The increase in teachers’ salaries, the rejuvenation of the political class, the expansion of free measures and the creation of jobs are all challenges to be taken up to build a better future in North Kivu. It is now up to the government to take these legitimate requests into account and put in place the necessary policies to meet the expectations of the population and ensure sustainable development of the region.
