The Loulo bridge, located on the Kyatsaba-Mabalako river in the Beni region, is the subject of an alert from civil society in the Baswagha Madiwe group. According to Justin Kavalami, president of this civic structure, the bridge has visible cracks in its central concrete and risks collapsing. With a capacity of 20 tonnes, this bridge is essential for communication between the villages of Madiwe and the town of Beni, playing a crucial socio-economic role for the region.
The deterioration of the Loulo bridge poses a real problem for the population of Baswagha Madiwe. Not only would this complicate their travel to Beni and vice versa, but it would also have an impact on certain services which would have to enforce the authorized tonnage. Unfortunately, some heavy goods vehicles far exceed this limit without encountering any constraints.
If the bridge collapses, users have no choice but to make a detour via Mambena, Visiki and Maboya to reach Beni. This situation is not only restrictive, but it also slows down the development and economic activity of the region.
Faced with this worrying situation, Justin Kavalami asks the competent authorities to take urgent measures to rehabilitate and protect the Loulo bridge. He calls on the local security committee, the head of the Beni-Mbau sector as well as the military administrator of the Beni territory to act quickly.
The rehabilitation of this bridge is essential to guarantee the safety of the inhabitants of Baswagha Madiwe, facilitate economic exchanges and strengthen links between the surrounding villages and the town of Beni. Let us hope that the authorities will quickly take the necessary measures to remedy this critical situation and ensure the sustainability of this vital infrastructure.
