With a catchy title: “An unprecedented wave of generosity: more than R19 million raised for Gift of the Givers”
In South Africa, KFC’s “Add Hope Festive” campaign was an extraordinary success thanks to the generosity and community spirit of South Africans. While KFC hoped to raise a total of R15 million to support the Gift of the Givers organization, the campaign far exceeded expectations.
Thanks to the overwhelming support from South African customers throughout December, we are delighted to announce that a total of R9,516,058 has been raised. KFC then doubled this, bringing the total to an incredible R19,032,116. This remarkable achievement highlights not only the power of collective effort, but also the spirit of solidarity deeply rooted in our nation.
This collaboration with Gift of the Givers goes beyond simply feeding those in need; it symbolizes a broader commitment to amplify the reach and impact of food assistance programs across South Africa. It demonstrates to every South African the profound impact of their contributions, no matter how small.
“Partnerships such as this reinforce the concept of South Africans joining hands to help their countrymen, and for that we are deeply grateful,” says Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, founder of Gift of the Givers.
The success of this campaign is a testament to the power of hope and the difference it can make in the lives of many people. It reflects our shared values and the belief that together we can create a better world for all.
“We express our sincere gratitude to every person who contributed to this campaign. Your generosity not only provided essential support to those in need, but also sent a powerful message of unity and hope,” says Andra Nel, marketing manager of KFC: Brand and Objectives.
About KFC South Africa
KFC has been in South Africa for over 52 years and has over 1,300 restaurants across the continent. The first KFC restaurant to open in South Africa was in 1971 in Orange Grove, Johannesburg. KFC is the leading quick service restaurant (QSR) brand in South Africa, with almost a third of market share, according to the Brand Image Tracker. KFC serves more than 20 million customers per month and we work hard to ensure that no matter what restaurant they enter, they find that distinctive KFC flavor and have an extraordinary experience.
KFC’s original recipe chicken was first created by Colonel Harland Sanders in 1940, when he perfected his secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices at his restaurant in Kentucky. Today, KFC is the most popular chicken restaurant in the world, still preparing its chicken with the Colonel’s secret recipe, to his exact standards. Every KFC restaurant follows the same global procedures and processes to ensure our customers get great tasting food, every time.
