The tense climate between North and South Korea is further intensifying with the latest actions of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Indeed, North Korea’s Parliament recently approved the dissolution of the agencies responsible for reunification with the southern neighbor. This decision follows growing tensions between the two countries, marked by provocations and aggressive acts on the part of Pyongyang.
Kim Jong-un also made threats against Seoul, saying that any even minor violation of North Korean territory would result in a military response from the North. He even raised the possibility of occupying South Korea in the event of war, indicating a dangerous escalation in inter-Korean relations.
South Korea, for its part, reacted firmly, promising to respond decisively to any provocation from the North. The South Korean president highlighted the overwhelming response capabilities of the South Korean military, saying his country would not be intimidated by Kim Jong-un’s threats.
