International news: Israel, Gaza and Yemen at the heart of tensions
In recent days, the conflict between Israel and Hamas has taken a new turn by partially extending to Yemen. Indeed, American and British forces have carried out strikes, including some again this morning, against the Yemeni Houthi rebels, in solidarity with Gaza and to protect maritime transport in the Red Sea.
At the same time, in the occupied West Bank, the Israeli army declared having neutralized three individuals who attacked the Jewish colony of Adora near Hebron. This action demonstrates the persistence of the conflict and the tension that reigns in the region.
Still linked to this conflict, Israel recently faced accusations of genocide brought by South Africa. Faced with these accusations, the country wanted to clarify its position before the UN International Court of Justice by declaring that it did not intend to destroy the Palestinian people in Gaza.
In another vein, an agreement was reached between Israel and Qatar for the upcoming delivery of medicines intended for hostages still held in Gaza. This agreement demonstrates the desire to find humanitarian solutions in this complex conflict.
In parallel with events in Israel and Gaza, the United States and the United Kingdom have intensified their operations against the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The latter have increased attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea, leading to a series of US-British strikes to protect sea lanes. These actions left five dead and six injured on the side of the Houthi rebels.
Yemeni rebel spokesman Mohamed Abdel Salam denounced the strikes as unjustified and said the Houthis would continue targeting ships linked to Israel in the Red Sea. This regional escalation in the Red Sea was condemned by the Quai d’Orsay, which attributes responsibility for this situation to the Houthis.
This complex and constantly evolving news highlights the many issues and tensions surrounding the region of Israel, Gaza and Yemen. The issue of international relations, maritime security and human rights remains at the center of debates, with the hope of finding lasting solutions to promote peace and stability in the region.
