At the heart of the news, a group of journalists from Kinshasa recently participated in a training workshop led by United Nations communications experts. The objective of this workshop was to strengthen the knowledge of journalists on sustainable development issues in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as well as on cooperation between the United Nations and the country.
For two days, participants were able to discover the United Nations cooperation system with the Congolese government. They also became aware of the crucial role that everyone must play to support this cooperation and contribute to the development of populations.
Joseph Mankamba Dibaya, communications officer at the office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator, stressed the importance of a common and united approach in UN action: “We planned this training session in order to put journalists , particularly those who collaborate with the United Nations System, aware of our joint working approach.
This workshop also encouraged exchanges between journalists and gave them the opportunity to share their impressions at the end of the session.
Thanks to this training, these media professionals will now be able to address with more expertise topics related to sustainable development and international cooperation in the DRC. Their role is essential in informing the population and sparking collective reflection on these crucial issues for the future of the country.
This United Nations initiative demonstrates their commitment to sustainable development and their desire to strengthen the capacities of local actors. By training journalists, they contribute to a better understanding of their work and encourage fruitful collaboration between the media and international organizations.
It is concrete actions like this that make it possible to build a better future for the DRC, by promoting awareness and commitment among all stakeholders in society. Cooperation between the United Nations and the DRC is a priority and the work of journalists plays a key role in making it known and promoting it to the general public.
By training and supporting journalists, the United Nations contributes to strengthening the fourth estate and guaranteeing quality information on the issues of sustainable development and international cooperation. This beneficial collaboration between the media and international organizations is an important step towards a more equitable and sustainable future for the DRC.
